Obituary of Kenton Robert Wells

Ken Wells passed away peacefully at his home in Milwaukie, Oregon on November 5th at the age of 83. Kenton Robert Wells was born on May 26, 1938 in Glasgow, Montana to parents Burt and Eddabeth (Fisher) Wells. His family moved to Portland, Oregon in 1940. Following his graduation from Jefferson High School in 1956, he served his country as a member of the Air Force Reserves. He graduated from Portland State University in 1964. Ken married Vonda Lea John of Portland on September 3, 1960 and recently celebrated 61 years of marriage. They raised their family in the Milwaukie area after commencing his teaching in Castle Rock, Washington. Ken taught English and Journalism for 32 years at Clackamas High School, retiring in 1998. He was active in North Clackamas Education Association (NCEA) throughout his career. Ken was an avid outdoor enthusiast. He enjoyed skiing, fishing, golf, tennis and spending time at the beach with family. Ken was a musician, an artist, a photographer and a prolific writer of poetry, songs and short stories. He loved being a husband, an uncle, a dad and especially a grandpa. Ken saw good in all people he encountered. He was broad-minded, fair and loving. His sense of humor - especially with word play - was classic. He will be favorably remembered and sorely missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his sister Annie RaLonde of Oak Harbor, WA; wife Lea Wells of Milwaukie, OR; children KC (Jen) Wells of Sandy, OR, Kara (Tom) Hall of Fort Collins, CO, Lance (Stephanie) Wells of Milwaukie, OR; grandchildren TJ Hall, Robyn Hall and Delia Wells and a loving group of friends and extended family. A celebration of life will take place at 11am on November 20 at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens.
