Obituary of Kathi (Kathleen) Ann Segrin

A wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister in-law, sister, cousin, aunt, friend; Kathi passed away surrounded by her devoted family June 19, 2023, at her home in Oregon City. Kathi is the daughter of Lena (Amato) LoPiparo and George LoPiparo, Sr. was born May 5, 1948. Raised in Milwaukie, amongst her large Italian family, she attended St. John’s Catholic School through the 8th grade then graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1966, where she met her husband and best friend of 54 years, Dane Segrin. She graduated college from Oregon State University in 1970 with a degree in education. Kathi was a passionate professional dedicated to teaching middle school for ~20 years in the North Clackamas School District, and even in retirement went on to work at the University of Portland, teaching new teachers how to be teachers. In-between college and her career in education, she did what she needed to do to prioritize her family and supported her husband by working in the family business. After her and Dane married in 1969, they began building their beautiful life in Milwaukie; in 1978 they built their current home of 45 years in Oregon City where they raised their 3 daughters. Kathi’s life pillars were family, tradition, and education all of which lives on in Dane, her daughters, grandchildren, and great grandchild. She loved travelling with friends and family, spending time at her home in Central Oregon, and shopping and lunch dates with her daughters and grand kids. Known as Kathi, Honey, Mom, Mama, Nana Darling, Great Nonie, she is survived by her loving family; husband, Dane Segrin, daughters Jami (& Mike) Martin, Jennifer (& Jake) Maben and Jeanna Bomotti. Her grandchildren, as she would say, were the light of her life; Dane (Christine) Maben, Rylee Maben, Abbi Maben, Ellison Martin, Tyler Martin, Roman Bomotti, and Max Bomotti and our newest addition, Maverick Maben, great-grandson. A celebration of life will be held July 14th, at 11:00 a.m. at the Sunnyside Chapel of the Chimes, 11667 SE Stevens Rd, Happy Valley, OR 97086. A luncheon reception will follow at her daughter, Jennifer’s home: 11347 SE North Star Drive, Happy Valley, OR 97086 If you wish to contribute in her memory, the family suggests it be made to the American Cancer Society Research.
