Obituary of Richard Wayne Mills

Richard Mills passed away peacefully at the age of 93 in his home in Milwaukie, Oregon. Richard was born to Fred and Rose Mills in Yamhill, Oregon on August 21,1929. He was one of five children. The family moved to Tillamook where he graduated from Tillamook High School. Richard was drafted in to the Army in 1951. He shipped off to Fort Lee, Virginia for boot camp and then proudly served his country as a corporal in the Korean War. He returned home January 5,1953. When he returned home his girlfriend Jeana Schweers was there waiting for him. They were married on May 8,1953. They had four children, Chris, Tim, Steve and Joanee. The most important thing in his life was his family. He loved attending any activity that included his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He worked at Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in Oregon City, Nicoli Door Manufacturing in Portland, Dad’s Rootbeer in Milwaukie and finished his working career as a warehouseman at Rudie Wilhelm Trucking in Milwaukie. He retired in 1991. In his free time he enjoyed camping, coaching, woodworking and photography. He is survived by his children Chris Mills (Malea), Tim Mills (Brenda), Steve Mills (Loretta), Joanee Bennett (Ted), fourteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, his sister Dee Scoggins and brother Virgil Mills. He was predeceased by his brothers Ralph and Alfred. Celebration for Life will be at 10:00 am Monday, May 15, 2023 at Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes in Happy Valley, Oregon.
