Obituary of Carolyn Mae Sales

Carolyn Mae Sales (Mellies) went to heaven on January 10, 2023, to be with her husband, Charles Sales, and the Lord. She passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her daughters. Carolyn was born September 12, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois. She had four siblings: Arlene Szcryrk, James Mellies (passed), Robert Mellies and Joann Bell. Carolyn met the love of her life, Charles “Chick” Sales at an early age and they had a beautiful and long life together. They had three daughters, and she was proud to be a stay-at-home mom while raising her family. In 1981, Chick and Carolyn packed up the kids and moved to Oregon where they lived with their growing family until their final days. In 1991, Carolyn and Chick started Ideal Door Components. They worked together as a team to make this family-owned company the success it still is today. Carolyn loved her family. Gatherings like birthdays, Christmas or family vacations were some of her best memories. She devoted her life to Chick, their three girls, seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Carolyn is survived by Valorie Kirchem (daughter), David Kirchem (son-in-law), Bonnie LaVine (daughter), Phill LaVine (son-in-law), Michelle Benjamin (daughter) and Jon Benjamin (son-in-law). Grandchildren: Christina Kirchem, Danielle Miller, Amanda Pace, Megan Kirchem, Jonathan Deyoe, Jacob Benjamin, and Noah Benjamin. Great grandchildren - Riley, Dylan, Weston, Charlotte, Myla, Owen, Everly and Freya. The celebration of life will be held Friday, 1/20/23, at Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes at 11667 SE Stevens Road, Happy Valley, OR 97086. Service time is at 1:30 pm. Viewing is available for guest before service at 1:00 pm.
