Martha Jinings

Obituary of Martha Marie Jinings

Martha, "Marcie" Jinings was born on September 28th, 1925 in Snoqualmie, Washington. She was one of six children born to Oren and Marie Barnes. All of her siblings have predeceased her. Growing up, the family moved around quite a bit. In 1944, Marcie married Delbert Shoeman. Unfortunately, he lost his life when the transport plane he was riding went down during the waning years of WWII. She met, fell in love and married Henry Jinings in October, 1947. Marcie already had a son, Eugene (Gene) whom Hank readily adopted. Two other sons, Michael and David came along a bit later. After the boys were old enough to care for themselves, Marcie began working in retail sales. She enjoyed the work and had a productive career for many years. After retirement, she and Hank began to travel. And travel they did, virtually covering the globe. Finally settling down with a motor home, spending winters in Palm Springs. Eventually, they bought a home on a golf course in Woodburn, Oregon. They stayed there until the rigors of home ownership became too much for them. They then moved to an assisted living facility in Clackamas. They lived together there for many years. Hank passed away peacefully in February, 2017. Marcie continued to live in the assisted living facility until she needed more intensive care. She moved to a memory care facility where she died peacefully on May 4th. She is survived by two sons, Gene and David. A family gathering was held on May 21 to celebrate her life. She will be interred with her husband, Hank and her son Michael at Willamette National Cemetery. May she rest in peace.
