Carole Johnson

Obituary of Carole Anne Johnson

In loving memory of Carole Anne Johnson, of Portland, Oregon, who went home to our Lord in heaven on April 26, 2022. Carole was born on October 8, 1942 to Odessa "Peggy" and Eric Pawlack in Portland. After graduating from Gresham High School in 1960, she lived in Oahu, Hawaii for a short time. Carole then met the love of her life, Dorsey "Buck" Johnson and they were inseparable and happily married for over 57 years. They had their one and only child Tina (Kent) in 1965. Carole was a fiercely loving and wonderful mother who gave her all to her family. In 1990, she finally gained a son, her amazing son-in-law, Brian, whom she loved like her own. Her life was finally complete when she was blessed with her grandchildren, Austin and Sydney. One of the most treasured parts of her world was being their "Amma", as well as their biggest cheerleader and constant supporter. Few have such a special bond with their grandmother as Austin and Sydney did. None of us will ever be able to fill the void left behind by her passing. Carole was a co-owner of Action Steel Erectors and served as the Secretary/Treasurer for about 20 years. She enjoyed painting, playing cards with friends, planting and tending to her beautiful flowers, and entertaining friends and family. Her retirement was filled with her grandchildren, many years of rest and relaxation time in Mexico, and traveling the world with Buck and cherished friends. She was predeceased by her parents, father-in-law Victor Johnson, niece Diana Moffitt, mother-in-law Eleanore, brother-in-law Calvin Reehl, and brother Richard "Dick" Pawlack. She is survived by her husband, daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, sister Gayle Moffitt, nephew Paul Moffitt (Deborah), sister-in-law Orajean Reehl, nephew Eric Reehl, nephew Darren Reehl, niece Andrea Andres (Wade), sister-in-law Veanne Lupia, and niece, Sara Larson. A Memorial Service for both Buck & Carole will be held on Saturday, July 16th at 1 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 5415 SE Powell Blvd, Portland; Celebration of Life for both will follow from 2-5 pm at Sheraton Portland Airport, 8235 NE Airport Way, Portland.
