This was written by her son Dan Flowers
Dee Flowers was born in Ashland, Oregon to Walter Bayard Jensen and Nettie Blanche Calame Jensen. She was the fifth of eight children.
She married John Flowers on Aug. 2, 1946 in Harrington, WA. They had six children, Karen, David, Dan, Brent, Robert and Joanne.
There are so many stories that we could tell…an individual with a personality and an imagination and energy and a work ethic as big as Mom’s always leaves a mark. There are rumors of evangelists being terrorized in the night, mummies coming to life at parties, cars rolling down hills at a church outing, incredible children’s programs, and plays, beautiful church choir cantatas and large intricate wedding cakes done to perfection. Mom could sing like an angel, play violin as well as any “professional”, play the accordion, the piano, the organ, the keyboards, and pretty much any other instrument that crossed her path and caught her attention. She typed around 120 words per minute. She taught herself to be a bookkeeper and an accountant. All this and it is just a sample of what she could do and what she accomplished.
What would Mom have wanted to be said at this, her memorial service? I can with a great deal of certainty tell you that her greatest accomplishment, the thing that she was the most proud of, was the fact that her children were and are all followers of Jesus.
Today we are gathered here as a family and friends to symbolically lay you, Mom and Dad, to rest in your final earthly dwelling. We have the knowledge and assurance that you are not really here, but are safe in Heaven in the arms of Jesus. We will join you there someday. Until then, rest in peace
