Obituary of Martha Mae Newell

Martha Mae Newell, a resident of Willamette View Manor in Milwaukie, died on April 6, 2020. She was 94 years old. Interment of her ashes will be at Mt. Lindo Cemetery, Denver, Colorado. Ms. Newell was a native of Colorado, born July 29th, 1925 in Arvada. She attended Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri and received a Bachelor’s Degree in 1947 and a Master of Personnel Service Degree in 1949 from the University of Colorado. She received a Bachelor of Divinity from Yale Divinity School in 1959. She worked for the World’s YMCA-YWCA program for displaced persons in northern Germany from 1949-1950. She then worked for the College and University Division of the National Board of the YWCA for 19 years at the Universities of Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Oregon. In 1969, she began studies at the C.G. Jung Institute of New York and upon graduation in 1981 worked as a Jungian Analyst in New York City and Portland, Oregon. She traveled widely in Europe, Russia, the British Isles, Hawaii, Alaska and Canada. She was a member of the Episcopal Church. Remembrances can be sent to the Oregon Friends of C.G. Jung.
