Obituary of Larry James Kauffman

Larry James Kauffman was born to Jess Lawrence “Bud” and Laura Elizabeth “Betty” Kauffman on October 30, 1942 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He was the only boy in a family of five children, and was very close to his four sisters. Larry was raised in Cheyenne until he later moved to Portland in 1962. He lived in several different places around the Portland and Vancouver metro areas before calling Happy Valley home in 1992. Larry really enjoyed the seven winters he and Marilyn spent in the sunny Phoenix area from 2010 – 2017. Larry had been a business owner since 1984, and remained very involved even after his daughter and son-in-law took over. Outside of work, he enjoyed photography, woodworking, fishing, mission trips, travel, Bible study groups, and boating. He enjoyed attending Oak Hills Presbyterian Church for the last 12 years. Larry was known for his perseverance, unconditional love, entrepreneurialism, independent spirit, strong work ethic, and for always being supportive of others. Larry is survived by his wife Marilyn Kauffman; 6 children, Lana (Kevin) Brubacher, David (Michelle) Kauffman, Jeffrey (Wendy) Kauffman, Tami (Tommy) Tinajero, Alberto Kauffman, and Rafael Kauffman; twenty five grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. Larry loved his family dearly and was always happiest when with them. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 15th at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church at 1:00 pm. A private graveside service will follow at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens. A family dinner will be held following the graveside at Sunnyside Little Chapel of the Chimes. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Larry’s name to The Salvation Army or the Backpack Buddies Nutrition Program at Oak Hills Presbyterian Church
