In his typical, self-effacing way, my brother Mike asked for no obituary. I take a sister's prerogative to tell a little about him.
He was a proud Vietnam vet and will be honored as such at his service. He had a no-BS honesty that eschewed artifice. He was a gifted artist, largely self-taught, and created beautiful images that grace many of our homes. In earlier years, he was extremely agile, especially at roller skating (until he turned his head, hit that wall and busted his lip!). He was the best dancer in a family that loved to dance. He once defended his little sister against a scolding playground monitor and thus will be forever cherished as her hero in that moment. He LOVED his pick-up truck.
He will be remembered as a beloved brother, father, grandfather, husband and friend. We trust he has now found the peace he deserved and that often eluded him here on earth.
We are grateful to his wife Marie, son Tommie and others who gave him comfort in his difficult last days.
