Obituary of Robert Glen Heide

Robert “Bob” Glen Heide February 8, 1944 - December 28, 2019 Robert Heide passed away peacefully in Wilsonville, Oregon on December 28, 2019. Robert was born in Elmhurst, Illinois on February 8, 1944 to George and Thelma Heide. He grew up in Medford, Oregon and graduated from Medford high school. He continued his education by earning a Bachelor’s Degree with a double major in music education and performance at Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. He then earned his Master’s degree in Music Education from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Bob ended up teaching band and orchestra from Pre-K through college in Kansas, Missouri, Vanguard University in Costa Mesa, CA, Medford Public Schools and at Cascade Christian High School. Bob was able to bring out the best abilities of his students. His marching bands and concert groups received several awards. Bob having a natural talent for music, played the trumpet or French horn in bands and orchestras. He played in the Ashland City Band, Rogue Valley Symphonic Band and played "The Trumpet Shall Sound" solo for the Messiah. Bob worked with Ron Bartlett for many years, Southern Oregon Symphonic Band, Marylhurst Orchestra, Lake Oswego Millennium Concert Band under Dale Cleland, and Newberg Community Band under Dick Elliott. He also loved to play sacred music for church. Bob loved to Bass and Crappie fish as well as make fishing lures and jewelry. Earlier in his life he played and coached tennis. He was preceded in death by his father George Heide, mother Thelma Miriam Heide. Bob leaves behind his wife of 53 years Mae Heide, Daughter Melanie Cave (Erik), Son Dwayne Robert Heide, Daughter Annette Vargason (Jeff), Foster Brother Don Jackson. Grandchildren, Kenneth Frank (Megan), Elisabeth Mae Heide, Duncan Cave, Aaron Heide, Ella Cave, Asher Doty, Elyse Vargason, Kara Witte, and Linnea Vargason. Bob was laid to rest at Sunnyside Memorial Gardens, in Happy Valley, Oregon. A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time at The Neighborhood Church.
