Obituary of Cornelia Jacoba Jacobs

Cornelia Jacobs passed away on December 25, 2019 at Mt Hood Legacy Hospital. She was 93 years old. Born on Oct 3rd 1926 in Jakarta Indonesia as Cornelia Jacoba Stolk. She was the fourth and youngest child of her Dutch father and Indonesian mother. Due to her parents separation when she was just four years old Cornelia and her siblings were sent to a school run by Catholic clergy. She had many fond memories of her life as a child in Indonesia and loved to share them with family. She also experienced the hardships of the occupation of her island during the Second World War. After the war she met her future husband Fredrik W Jacobs, sergeant in the Dutch Indonesian army. After their marriage and together with their then almost two year old daughter Jeannette, they fled the islands and moved to the Netherlands. There they would have two more children, Irene and Fred. After having lived in Amsterdam for more than 10 years, the family immigrated to the United States in 1961. Her husband passed away just 10 years later. She was then a caretaker for her own son who passed away in 2017. There were many challenges and adversities in Cornelia’s life but she was a very strong and determined woman who loved her family and always kept her strong religious faith with her. She was a caring person to all and sharing whatever she had with others was second nature to her. She was loved dearly by her three children, four grandchildren, Brian, Ian, Erik and Bridget and three great grandchildren Elsa, Kellen and Audrey.
